Happy New Year!

It seems too late to say this according to the Gregorian calendar.

But, it is not!

Chinese New Year is on Feb 1 this year, according to the Chinese Lunar calendar.

We are so lucky to have Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland to observe the Chinese New Year.

Speaking of different calendars, Japan has the 24 Sekki, which divides the solar year into twenty-four equal sections.

According to 24 Sekki, Feb 3 is "Setsubun" this year, and Feb 4 is "Risshun" (the beginning of Spring.)

Some info changes year to year.

Some differences from the video above are the Lucky Direction 2022, North-Northwest, in addition to the dates for Setsubun (Feb3) and Risshun (Feb4)!

アメリカに来てから中国のお正月が２月にあるって事を知りました。旧正月って、日本でもあるようですが、私は聞いたことありませんでした。こちらでは結構イベントなどあります。

ポートランドのラン・スー・チャイニーズガーデンでもお祭りがあるようです。

２月１日がお正月という事で、ガーデンからスペシャルイベントに（お客として）誘っていただきました。息子を学校さぼらせて、行こうかなと思ってます。（文化的フィールドトリップという名目で！）

こちらで日本の文化を紹介するために、日本に住んでいた時より色んな日本の事を学んでいます。

節分・立春も上のビデオ作るまで、豆まきくらいしか認識ありませんでした。

色々な事が奥が深くて興味深い～、と言いつつ、老化した脳での理解は浅いので要点しか纏められない内容ですが、少しでも多くの外国人の方にも紹介できたら嬉しいと思い作ったビデオです。まだ、ビデオ編集始めたばかりで、編集が下手ですが～。
